Dear Fellows, Members and Associates of the College,

As you know, the Hong Kong Children's Hospital (HKCH) is expected to be opened in 2018. All concerned parties in Hospital Authority especially the paediatric colleagues are actively preparing for the necessary hardware and software for its smooth operation. As the Hong Kong College of Paediatricians is responsible for maintaining the standard of paediatric training, we must work closely with the Hospital Authority. It is our duty to give recommendations on the optimal training model for Paediatrics and its subspecialties which in turn depends on the optimal arrangement of service delivery.

College Council has decided to hold a Forum with details as follows to provide a platform for all interested colleagues to give suggestions on the HKCH:

Event:  College Forum on the Impact of Hong Kong Children's Hospital (HKCH) on the future Paediatric Training and Services

Date:  24 September 2016 (Saturday)

Time: 2:00 pm - 5:50 pm

Venue: Function Room 1, 2/F Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Jockey Club Building, 99 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Aberdeen, Hong Kong.

The intended outcome is to propose the ideal training model for Hong Kong for primary, secondary and tertiary paediatric doctors (involving HA, DH, private) which will then have impact on how to arrange our service model.  The intended deliverables are a) the curriculum of training programme for Basic and Higher General Paediatrics; b) the training centers and training teams; and c) the training rotations of trainees.

The forum will be attended by stakeholders as follows:

-      College Council members

-      Chairpersons/representatives of Standing Committees and Young Fellows Subcommittee

-      COC chairpersons and COSs of all Paediatric Units

-      Subspecialty Boards / HA Clinical Work Groups / Subspecialty Society chairpersons

Dr Lee Tsz Leung, the Hospital Chief Executive of HKCH has also agreed to give a talk on the progress of HKCH, and hear the discussion and concerns of our colleagues.

As a Member the College, you are cordially invited to join this important Forum. Attached please receive a tentative programme of the forum for your information. To enable efficient use of time for a fruitful discussion, you are also encouraged to look at the presentation files of the speakers before the meeting.  (Please scroll down to the end of the webpage to see the presentation files).

To allow us to estimate the attendance, please kindly let us have your positive reply by a return email to the Secretariat Office (Attention: Kitty Ho), This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  for registration by 26 August 2016 (Friday).
