MRCPCH Applied Knowledge in Practice (previously Part II) Examination, 16 September 2020 (Wednesday)

Dear AssociatesPlease be informed that the next MRCPCH Applied Knowledge in Practice (AKP) Examination will be held in HK on 16 September 2020. Candidates wishing to sit the above exam in Hong Kong must apply both online using the RCPCH website ( https://www.rcpch.ac.uk/user  ) AND submit paper applications to our College. Please study carefully the details of application as outlined in the attached circular.Options for sitting this Exam1. At a test centre in person, or2. At your own home or workplace with online invigilation (see Online Invigilation Quick Guide)Application period20 July 2020 (Mon) – 27 July 2020 (Mon)Examination FeeHK$8,800Payment should be made payable to Hong Kong College of Paediatricians. Attached please find an Application Form C for your use.Special Note on Coronavirus Outbreak:In view of the ongoing pandemic in HK, there is a possibility that the examination will not be held on 16 September 2020 as scheduled. We will monitor the situation in the coming months. Your application will be confirmed online once payment is received by the HK College of Paediatricians; but your payment will not be cashed until mid-August 2020. Please check for the latest exam updates on the HK College website nearer the time.Remarks:1. Sample examination questions are available on the RCPCH website for candidates viewing. Candidates sitting for CBT exams are strongly advised to study these sample questions at this link https://www.rcpch.ac.uk/resources/theory-exam-sample-papers 2. Candidates can sit the MRCPCH theory exams in any order, and can take the Applied Knowledge in Practice Exam as their first MRCPCH theory exam.3. MRCPCH Clinical Examination, 20, 21 & 23 October 2020 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday)

Dear AssociatesAttached please find a circular detailing the application procedures for the above exam. Application period is from 6 July 2020 to 2 August 2020. Relevant application forms and documents can be downloaded from the College website. * Please note that a candidate declaration form will need to be completed and submitted with Application Form D. Examination Fee HK$16,600 Payment should be made payable to Hong Kong College of Paediatricians. Please note that 1. Candidates who have applied for the February 2020 MRCPCH Clinical Exam will be given priority to sit the exam in October. 2. Candidates have a period of 7 years to complete the Clinical Examination from the date he/she passed all of the theory examinations. There is no limit to the number of attempts. If candidates are not able to pass the Clinical Examination within the seven years, he/she has to re-sit the Applied Knowledge in Practice Examination in order to take the Clinical Examination again. Application for accreditation of the proposed Subspecialty of Paediatric Haematology & Oncology (PHO)

To:  All Fellow, Members and Associates of the Hong Kong College of Paediatricians Please read this IMPORTANT announcement about the application for accreditation of the proposed Subspecialty of Paediatric Haematology & Oncology (PHO). As you are no doubt aware, our College is responsible for ensuring the standards and progress of paediatric subspecialty development in Hong Kong.  In order to ensure that we maintain the highest standards possible for any subspecialty accredited by our College, we strictly follow all pre-requisite criteria set by the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine and our College.  The relevant application procedures are available on our College’s website (http://www.paediatrician.org.hk) under the section on “Subspecialties”. So far, six paediatric subspecialty groups have applied for accreditation and have become accredited subspecialties under our College, i.e., Paediatric Immunology and Infectious Diseases (PIID), Developmental-Behavioural Paediatrics (DBP), Paediatric Neurology (PN), Paediatric Respiratory Medicine (PRM), Genetics & Genomics Paediatrics (GGP) and Paediatric Endocrinology (PE). We now announce that our College has received an application for accreditation of the proposed Subspecialty of Paediatric Haematology & Oncology (PHO). In order to facilitate open consultation on the accreditation of PHO as a paediatric subspecialty, our College has uploaded the application documents (i.e., application forms, proposed training programme, and supporting letters from external referees) to our College website for your information and review. As part of the open consultation process, ALL Fellows, Members and Associates are encouraged to send us any comments on this application.  This is an important step in the future development of paediatric services and may substantially affect current paediatric practice and services in both private and public sectors throughout Hong Kong. Please send in your comments on this application on or before 21st August 2020 (Friday). Subspecialty of Paediatric Neurology (PN) – Invitation for Enrollment of Training Programme (commencing from 2nd July 2020)

Dear Fellows and Members of the Hong Kong College of Paediatricians, The Paediatric Neurology (PN) is now recognized as a Paediatric Subspecialty in the Hong Kong College of Paediatricians, it has been registered in the Specialist Register in The Medical Council of Hong Kong since September 2013. We are now calling for application enrollment of PN trainees for Year 2020. Please kindly find enclosed files of Training Programme Information and Application Form for your kind attention.
