Re: College Forum - Proposal on renaming of the Subspecialty of Paediatric Immunology & Infectious Diseases (PIID) To ALL Fellows, Members and Associates of the Hong Kong College of Paediatricians The Subspecialty of Paediatric Immunology and Infectious Diseases (PIID) has recently submitted a proposal to the Committee for Subspecialty Boards (CSB) and College Council to apply for re-naming of the subspecialty to Paediatric Immunology, Allergy and Infectious Diseases (PIAID). The proposal of the application of re-naming from the PIID Subspecialty and supporting document of ‘Curriculum for Paediatric Training, Paediatric Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Diseases from Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH)” have been uploaded to College website: www.paediatrician.org.hk for your reference. We believe the process of renaming may be of interest to all Fellows of the College. The renaming of a subspecialty is considered a major change which may substantially affect the development of the subspecialty, as well as impact on the image of the College and our Fellows. The CSB and the Council have therefore decided to call for an Open Forum for all concerned colleagues to discuss and hopefully arrive at a consensus about the way forward. Details of the Forum are as follows: Date: 26 May 2018 (Saturday) Time: 2:30 pm Venue: (Changed to) James Kung Meeting Room, 2/F, Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Jockey Club Building, 99 Wong Chuk Hang, Aberdeen, Hong Kong. Agenda: Attached Please note that the College so far takes a neutral stand and is open to any solution arrived at by consensus of our colleagues involved in the renaming. To have full transparency of the accreditation process, the College would welcome any interested Fellows, Members and Associates to attend the Forum and share your views. To facilitate our preparation, please inform the College Secretariat by return email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
