Message from College President

As President, I wish to engage with our College members regularly, and brief you on our plans and activities. I shall make this "message to members" a regular occurrence following each Council Meeting.

To increase our sense of ownership, for the coming 25th anniversary of our College in 2016, we are going to publish a collection of dialogues between our members and Young Fellows Subcommittee (YFS) members, with the intent that the dialogues will project a sense of personal journey of our members in his/her chosen field or activity, and the enlightenment of our young fellows of what may come in their life journey. This is a personal reflection done by pairs of College members, in their respective roles. We are now calling any members who would wish to be interviewed by YFS members to contact our College secretariat before 23 April 2016 (Ms Lily Lin at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). We will arrange the dialogues between you and the YFS members. The YFS members will write up the dialogues for you to vet before submission to the Council for editing. All dialogues will be published at least in e-format, and some will also be in paper format as a book for the 25th anniversary celebration.

We hope this collaborative project between you and the YFS will build cohesion across generations and help the young understand the past, so as to know their presence and dream of their future.

As part of the 25th anniversary celebration, we are planning a 2 day scientific meeting combining our 4th annual scientific meeting with the biennial scientific meeting among Hong Kong, Guangdong, Shanghai and Chongqing (港粵滬渝兒科學術研討會), from the 3rd to 4th December 2016, in our Academy Building. This event will be together with our AGM and Fellowship conferment. Furthermore, a photo exhibition is being planned to occur during this meeting, organized by a group of pediatricians led by Maurice Leung, with the intent to foster appreciation of humanistic value and visual art. I hope you could mark this in your diary now, and support your College.

To further promote regional collaboration, our College has agreed to co-organize the Inauguration Congress of the Asia Pacific Society for Immunodeficiency (APSID) from 28th April to 1st May 2016 in Hong Kong (http://paed.hku.hk/apsid/apsid2016/). The registration fees are waived for our College members.

Lastly, our Council has just formed a Financial Subcommittee to explore the means to secure better financial status for us to drive our dreams forwards, to serve our members better.

Prof. LAU Yu Lung
President
