Message from College President

lauyl

As promised, I now brief you on College affairs following each Council Meeting, to enhance your sense of ownership for the College and our Council accountability.

I sent you the call last week to attend the Forum "Use of Diagnostic Tests and Tamiflu in Influenza" on the 7th June 2016 in our Academy Building. Please come as we need you to share views, discuss issues and arrive at consensus for guiding our next step.

For the 25th anniversary celebration of our College, we are finalizing the scientific and educational program on the 3rd and the 4th December 2016, with active participation from our young fellows and subspecialty trainees. The social program will comprise music performance by Dr. Charles Wong and our Young Fellows, as well as a photography exhibition & talk. Please mark your diary.

The Council has set up a Credentialing Committee at the request of the Academy Council, with VP Dr. Winnie Tse chairing, to look into issues related to credentialing. In the first instance, the Credentialing Committee will focus on flexible bronchoscopy and cardiac catheterization.

To improve training and assessment (T&A), the Academy Council has mandated all Colleges to review issues related to T&A. A Working Group on Review of T&A, to be chaired by myself will start working soon.

To further enhance regional collaboration, our College has decided to bid for the hosting of the 13th Asian Society for Pediatric Research Congress 2017 in Hong Kong, with the dates set from the 6th to the 8th October 2017. Professors GCF Chan and TF Leung will represent our College in the bidding. Please support them through attending the 12th ASPR Congress in Bangkok (http://www.aspr2016.com).

Finally, our College senior secretary Ms Connie Lui retired after 16 years of outstanding service, and we wish her a happy and healthy retirement.

Prof. LAU Yu Lung
President
1st June 2016
