Message from College President

lauyl

Our Council met and deliberated many critical issues on your behalf in the last Council meeting on 27th July 2016, and I am now briefing you the major issues and decisions made as follows.

With the successful experience of holding the Forum on "Use of Diagnostic Tests and Tamiflu in Influenza" in June, and on “Position Statement on the Medical Registration (Amendment) Bill 2016 issued by HKAM 29th June 2016” in July, the Council decided in order to be responsive to your views, when any significant professional issue is raised, and further supported by more than two-thirds of the Council members to hold a Forum, the Council will organize the Forum expeditiously and open to all members to express your views.

The first Credential Committee meeting was chaired by Dr. Winnie Tse to deliberate on the credentialing of flexible bronchoscopy and cardiac catheterization, while I chaired the first Training & Assessment Working Group meeting to explore the reform of training and assessment for our trainees.  We shall report to you in due course on the way forward.

Our Council has also endorsed to start the accreditation process for the subspecialty “Genetics & Genomics(Paediatrics)”.

Finally, please consider to come to our Forum on “Impact of Hong Kong Children's Hospital (HKCH) on the future Paediatric Training and Services” organized by the Committee for Subspecialty Boards for the College on 24th September 2016, during which major stakeholders will present for the first half of the 3 hours meeting followed by open discussion.  Speakers include Dr. TL Lee, the HCE of the HKCH, and many senior leaders in various subspecialties.
